Local Conservatives Launch Campaign for a Fitting Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II – Condemn Council for Prolonged Inaction
The local Conservative group, led by Jonathan Dulston, has launched a major public appeal urging local businesses, residents, and community leaders to support the creation of a lasting and meaningful tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The initiative comes after nearly three years of silence and inaction from the Labour-run local council, which has yet to take any steps to formally honour the late monarch.
“It is frankly unacceptable that our Labour-run council has failed to act on such a basic civic duty,” said Jonathan Dulston, Leader of the Local Conservatives. “Her Late Majesty was a symbol of dedication, stability, and national pride. The lack of recognition from our local authority is not just disappointing — it’s deeply disrespectful.”
The campaign will involve public consultation and collaboration with private supporters and local organisations, with the aim of delivering a dignified memorial that reflects Queen Elizabeth II’s historic reign and unwavering service to the nation.
Scott Durham, Chairman of the Local Conservative Association said:
“This should have happened long ago. People across this town want to see Her Majesty honoured with the dignity and respect she deserves. We’re stepping up where the Council has failed, and we invite everyone who feels the same to join us in this effort.”
Details of the campaign, including how individuals and organisations can get involved or contribute, will be announced in the coming weeks.
